School entrance
UK school interview preparation
Many UK schools interview applicants as part of entry. The format differs from school to school: who interviews, whether it is online, and whether every candidate is invited. Here is what the schools' own admissions pages say, and how we help your child get ready.
What the schools' pages say
31 of the 45 schools in our entry data include an interview at one or more entry points.
- Who interviews: several schools name the Head, a senior member of staff or academic staff.
- Where: some interviews are in person, some by video call (Teams, Zoom or similar), and several schools offer both.
- Who is invited: at some schools not every applicant is interviewed, and some offer places on tests and reports alone.
- When: usually after the tests are marked, or on an assessment or taster day, often alongside group activities.

How we help
- We read each school's entry process and prepare your child for each step: tests, interviews and group activities.
- Interview preparation is one of our school-application services, alongside finding the school that fits.
- We begin with a free assessment, so we know where your child is before we plan anything.
Dates and formats change every year. Always check the school's own admissions page; each school's entry steps, source link and last-checked date are on its profile.
