What is A1 English?

A beginner who can manage simple, familiar situations when people speak slowly and clearly.

At A1, a learner can usually…

  • Introduce themselves and answer simple questions about home, family and likes.
  • Understand short, slow announcements and everyday phrases.
  • Read short notes, signs and simple messages made of familiar words.
  • Fill in a form with personal details and write a few short sentences.
