About the school
Founded in 1553 by Sir Andrew Judde, Tonbridge School is an academically selective independent day and boarding school for boys in Tonbridge, Kent, on a 150-acre site with just over 800 boys across seven boarding Houses and five day Houses.
It combines strong academic study with sport, music, drama, art, societies and a comprehensive pastoral programme. The House system brings boarders and day boys together and supports their personal development and wellbeing.
The principal entry points are Year 9 (13+), Year 10 (14+) and Year 12 (16+). For Year 9, families are encouraged to register by 1 September of Year 6; boys sit the ISEB Pre-Test and may attend an Experience Afternoon with a one-to-one interview. International applicants sit the UKiset assessment first.
For Year 12, the registration deadline is 1 October in the year before entry; applicants are examined in four chosen A Level subjects plus English Language. From September 2028 girls will be welcomed into the Sixth Form. Scholar Gateway can guide you through every step.
