About the school
Founded in 1572 by John Lyon under a Royal Charter from Queen Elizabeth I, Harrow School is a full boarding school for about 830 boys aged 13–18. Every boy boards, in one of 12 boarding houses, on a 324-acre estate on Harrow on the Hill in north-west London.
The School has a Christian foundation and ethos, and around 20% of boys live overseas. It is 20 minutes from Baker Street on the Metropolitan line, so boys enjoy a spacious boarding community within easy reach of London.
In 2026 more than 70% of A level grades were A*–A and over 90% A*–B, with nearly a third at A*. Nine leavers took up places at Oxford or Cambridge, and a record 50 went to US universities, 14 of them to Ivy League schools.
The main entry point is Year 9 (age 13), with about 160 places each year, and around 20 places at Year 12 (Sixth Form). Scholar Gateway can guide you through every step.
