Scholar Gateway

Keeping children safe

Safeguarding

Our commitment

Every child who learns with Scholar Gateway has the right to be safe. We expect everyone who works with us to put that first, and to speak up if they have a concern.

How we choose our tutors

Every tutor is interviewed and chosen as the best fit for the role. We look for years of proven teaching experience, and we check each tutor's certificates and background before they teach.

Safe online lessons

Online lessons take place in the Scholar Gateway online classroom, not on private chat apps. Tutors and students use the platform's messages for lesson planning, and personal contact details cannot be shared in chat.

How our tutors behave

  • Lessons and messages go through the Scholar Gateway platform.
  • Tutors do not share personal phone numbers, social media or private contact details with students.

If you are worried about a child

Tell us straight away. Contact our safeguarding lead:

If a child is in immediate danger, contact the local emergency services first.

What happens next

  1. We listen, take your concern seriously and write it down.
  2. The safeguarding lead reviews it promptly.
  3. Where a child may be at risk, we act to protect them and, where appropriate, refer to the proper local authority.
  4. Information is shared only with people who need it to keep the child safe.
